I've been involved with World Community Grid for over one year.
And quoted directly from their website:

Our success depends on individuals - like you - collectively contributing their unused computer time to this not-for-profit endeavor."
WCG is involved with several projects like Help Conquer Cancer, Fight AIDS @ Home Project.
I urged everybody to take part in this very meaningful projects :)
