Yngwie Malmsteen Singapore 2006

Oh man it is fucking loud like mother fucking loud....

My ears are still buzzing... it muz be like fucking 130 or 140 dB SPL...my ears started buzzing when he played on the 3rd tune...

The band was tight like hell but too bad the sound system was abit fucked up...and no I hate being a music police but the sound system was really bad...crackling and buzzing sound...vocals was like distorting...you wana know how loud it was? Trying something like I could feel the sole of my shoes and like the fucking ground moving when the kick drum comes in...ya it was that fucking loud....

Overall I thought that the show was pretty good and Malmsteen was playing pretty damn well although I felt that the set was a little short...especially since Malmsteen has quite a feel hits 2 hours juz ain't enough of this Viking!!!!

Kenny Aronoff

I was part of the event crew for Kenny's clinic in Singapore last nite, juz wanted to say that he was rockin the house down...will have more pics up later and a full review today or 2morrow....

Sign couldn't get any pics from the clinic...gotta go bug the people from Swee Lee....

Anyway...Kenny talked abit about his experience as a sessionist and I thought what the said about Avril Lavgine was pretty kool...

He played on My Happy Ending and he said that the producer send him a demo of him singin the tune on a folk guitar...Kenny had to like imagine what the song would be like rock style and play according and he was surprised that the drums ended up being used since he didn't know how the song would go....

He also talked abit about what its like to session for people....usually he will go to the studio....record the drums and than send his stuff out and he usually won't meet the artist and its juz how things get done now a days....

Knocturnal has been hospitalized for several months now, and I really dont know the specifics but Knocturnal was diagnosed with several serious diaseaes at birth and fought his way thought it till last night. He lived as a very happy young man, and I would like to thank you all who knew him and made his in game experience a wonderful one.

I've been pondering whats so special about DT anyway? I've been a fan of DT for almost 20 years...they write songs that are like never on MTV nor on the radio but yet...I'm still very much attracted to their style of music...yet I've friends who tells me dude man you listen to some really weird shit...and I'm like whats wrong with fusion jazz or prog rock or hard bop? I dun know maybe I'm juz different.....

Juz completed 2 mixdowns...but I'm not really happy with the results :( I think I need more time to do the mixdowns again...something is really boomy but I can't figure out if its the guitar or the bass gonna need more time... my ears are tired...my eyes are tired from staring at Pro Tools...

On a side note, I juz realize that all of my friends ain't using ICQ no more...they are all shifting over to MSN...juz feels so weird cuz I started out as a ICQ user....man I feel so old skool...not sure y I'm still using Trillian since I dun really need it and I can get more features outta MSN....

The end of the recording

After like 1 month of recording, today will be the last day...will be doing vocals + bass personally I feel like we've been draggin this way too long...I"m a fast pace kind of a guy...go in do it once do it good and end it :) but still its been a very entertaining month for me though. :)

Anyway I'll be entering the studio once again soon (hopefully next week) to record and experiment with a very awesome guitarist from Singapore!!!

Man I've been busy for like the past 2 weeks....loads of work + recording so there is like a lack of updates here buy anyway...Dream Theater's brand new LIVE album is gonna hit the streets soon and Malmsteen is gonna be performing in Singapore for a 2nd time again....so rock on Singapore!!!

1st Recordin

Well...it didn't go smoothly as expected but nor was it a failure....they changed the connection of the studio and I didn't know so I had to do Immediate remedy on the spot and a couple of times I was caught off guard...probably the biggest thing buggin me was the fact that the was no sound comming out from the left speaker....I think there is something wrong with the speaker or something. But on well at least I got the stuff recorded.

But I did make 1 major mistake...too much spillage from the Overheads...grr... I decided to set the OH lower cuz I didn't wan to mike up the toms and it ended up pickin up the snare as well.... oh well more experience from me.....

Max left the band after the Roots Bloody Roots album (and created Soulfly) and on 12/06/06 Igor left Sepultura and I was like wow....to me the Cavalera's are like the heart and soul of Sepultura and now that both of them ain't in the band no more...it is juz plain weird....

I saw the Hands Without Shadows ablum in HMV like few days ago and was wondering if I should get the ablum....I mean, MAB's nickname is "Hands Without Shadows" cuz he plays so goddamn fast that the shadow can't catch up with him.

The reason why I'm not very keen on getting any of his ablum is becuz I think he shreds too much...no doubt he is probably one of the cleanest shredder alive and technique wise he is really great but I dun dig songs that is shredding too much.

So I went back home downloaded a couple of previews from MAB's website and was really suprise becuz he did not shred all the way throughout the tunes and probably the reason is becuz HWS is a tribute ablum and I really luv the tone of this ablum, really great. Overall I really dig is version of his tunes...great stuff

Skid Row in Singapore?

There has been talks and rumors lurking ard lately that Sebastian Bach will reunite once again with Skid Row for a concert in Singapore...frankly I dun know what to make of this...but however if they do play in Singapore, I'll be there to support them. Sebastian Bach is probably one of the greatest rock vocalist ever.

Living another life?

I've always wondered what its like to live as another person and no not like me living in another person's world/life but rather to totally become another person, subconciously a totally different person, learn to think differently, act differently, have a different set of skills all together.

To be like fucking poor and living in the slums and know how those people think or be at the other side of the spectrum and be totally fucking rich and know how the rich and infamous think.

DR Strings

Man...I've been playing for like 8 years now and DR Strings really made me pissed off....man they sux real bad....I bend the High E once and it breaks...so I told myself maybe I did not stretch it out long enough, got out a new pack, took the High E out and put it on again....play for like 45 min...doing some 1/4 and 1/2 bend and than finally a full bend....cool no problem at all, play for a while longer did another full bend + vibrato...guess what? it freaking broke again....

There are some great songs all over the world but there're a few songs where you can really feel that the guitarist is pouring this heart and soul into the tune, almost like if he is one with the guitar, the song...the power of music.

No 1 Steve Vai's Whispering a Prayer.(the tone the feel of this tune is juz amazing)

No 2 SRV's Little Wing. (Personally I think the feel and the emotion of this tune is over whelming, even better than Hendrix.)

No 3 Garry Moore/BB King's The Thrill is Gone duet...amazing playing by both.

No 4 Alien Love Child(Eric Johnson)Last House on the Block...1000 pound violin tone...

No 5 Joe Satriani Searching....the groove, the feel of the song...out of this world
